Please welcome ‘Reflections in Common’ — a reflection space for the World Capital of Architecture 2023.
Architecture is only given meaning once we interact with it. The concept of the Pavillon is materialised in the design, which allows people to look at themselves against the backdrop of the city. Here you can experience yourself, the city and its nature from a new perspective. Take the time to stop, take on a new perspective and take the reflection with you. Come back another day and experience how the atmosphere of the pavilion and the city change throughout the seasons.
Entirely clad in mirrors, the Pavilion reflects the surrounding historic architecture of Copenhagen. On the inside, plants and mirrors create the illusion of ‘an infinite greenery’.
The pavilion is part of Copenhagen’s celebration of the title of UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture 2023. A celebration of all that we have in common when we look back – and all that we can do together when we look forward. Architecture is the framework, when we celebrate Copenhagen’s history, everyday life and nature.
Commissioned by Københavns Kommune – the pavilion is located on Kongens Nytorv, Copenhagen’s central plaza from January 2023 until October 2023. When the year is over, all elements in the pavilion will be reused and the plants will be planted around Copenhagen.
