6 COLOMBIAN FARMERS.
A coffee bean is on a very long journey from the coffee farm to the consumer’s cup. Usually, the coffee is bought from the farmer, then transported, processed and sold to middlemen. Multiple times. Once available in the shop, all information about the origin and the craftsmanship of farmer and roaster is lost.
Together with the Cowi Foundation, Peter Larsen Kaffe has investigated in how Blockchain technology can contribute to a sustainable change. Using the technology, Peter Larsen Kaffe has created a network of the people who take part in the coffee’s journey from sprout to cup. This allows all involved to easily exchange data about the coffee, which makes both the process more efficient and transparent.
The craftsmanship of the farmers and roasters is no longer lost on the way, and you know the exact origin and home address of the coffee. More specifically you know that this coffee is grown and harvested by a coffee farmer called Alonso Gonzales or one of five other local farmers in Columbia.
It´s coffee with a home adress.
The packaging design is based on exactly that story.
Each of the 6 coffees in the range has the farmers name as first priority. Exact GPS coordinates underline the origin of each coffee. The coffee sack design tells a story of coffee, that will travel the long way from farmer to consumer without losing any of its origin on the journey.
