Sometimes you need to experience technology before you understand its full potential. We were commissioned by Google ATAP to create a series of prototypes that would demonstrate the agility of their Soli based gesture technology in the Pixel 4 phones.
Most people don’t meet advanced technology until it’s implemented in a marketable consumer product. Here it feels natural and intuitive, sometimes making it hard to imagine a world without it. But the journey to this point is often more complicated than the technology itself, with years of trials and testing before a breakthrough.
Google ATAP drives the hardware innovation agenda at Google. Working with focused 2-year technology sprints, they turn ideas into reality that can be implemented in Google's hardware and their open platforms. Soli is a project of ATAP using gesture based technology to make your interaction with hardware more human. Non-verbal communication has the potential to make interaction more intuitive and fluid as the technology learns your most natural gestures.
We were commissioned by ATAP to create a series of prototypes showcasing the technology in the new Google Pixel 4. Built on the Soli Sandbox, an open developer platform that lets anyone connect their prototype to Soli gestures, we partnered with Set Snail to create 3 playful games that illustrate the flexibility of the interactions base.
