Designaktivisten – A Tribute to Annika Heijkenskjöld
Designaktivisten is a biography of Annika Heijkenskjöld, the visionary founder of Form/Design Center in Malmö. From 1964 to 1989, she led this vibrant exhibition hall and meeting place, bringing together designers, the public, and decision-makers. During her 25-year leadership, 551 exhibitions were produced, attracting nearly five million visitors. Through her pioneering work, Annika ignited crucial discussions about Scandinavian design, its impact on daily life, and its role in shaping a sustainable future.
To reflect Annika’s bold personality, lifelong dedication, and passion for making design accessible, the book is designed with a small, almost pocket-sized format, striking colors, and a relatively large body text for readability. Over 300 images enrich the story, making the book inviting, engaging, and entertaining from start to finish. The visual approach embraces contrasts—past and future, function and aesthetics, the individual and the collective—mirroring Annika’s ability to bridge the gap between the professional world and the everyday user.
