Recreating a 133-year-old beer as authentically as possible.
This beer was brewed with living yeast extracted from a 133-year-old Carlsberg bottle using original ingredients, recipe and techniques from that exact period in time. The labels and the bottles were also crafted the same way as they were back then: By hand. The label was illustrated by hand, engraved into metal plates and printed on old book-printing machines. The bottles were mouth-blown and each label was mounted on the bottles by the brewer who also signed and dated it by hand. Only 30 bottles were made in total. They were given to prominent figures, such as The Danish Crown Prince and Stephen Hawking, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Carlsberg Laboratory.
