The Corsa pizza identity is routed in old Italian virtues. Of course, the pizzas are Italian but so are the rest. Everything from interior to logo, staff clothes and packaging. The Corsa identity and typeface is based on and inspired by old Italian signages.
Researching the northern part of Italy where the best pizzas come from, we looked into old facades, menus and typefaces made by hand. As you can imagine spacing and rules were made by non-professional designers and this was what fuelled the idea of creating a typeface that seemed off but still charming.
Furthermore, we were inspired by the Italian passion for football and looked into old jerseys from the 60’s and 70’s. Monospaced fonts and simple numbers on the back of jerseys was a big part of the graphic style in this period.
