Beskrivelse
The Royal Danish Collection unites six of Denmark’s royal castles under one institution. At the heart of the visual identity are two key elements: the shield and the crown. For the poster system, the shield becomes the primary storytelling device. A frame that brings historical artifacts into contemporary context.
The shield references heraldic tradition while functioning as a modern design tool. It crops paintings from the collection, creating a portal between centuries.
The posters were created for KONGEBARN, a permanent exhibition at Koldinghus exploring royal childhood across the ages. The exhibition invites children and adults to experience history through play and interaction. The posters mirror this by making historical paintings feel immediate and accessible.
Colors are drawn directly from each painting, creating cohesion between artwork and graphic treatment. The crown appears as a small marker of heritage, while the logotype grounds the design in the present.
The shield works as a frame, but it also transforms historical artifacts into living invitations.
