Brask Studio Visits VI takes you inside the studios of 36 artists across genres, textures, styles, and borders. It is a rare chance to be where art is created and where the artists are in their utmost private space. An artist's studio is a sanctuary, and the work done there is lit by the spark of the moment.
Time, place, and artist come together here to create the not yet known. Based on the above, we've designed the book to present uniqueness in the best way possible. Each studio, artist, piece of art, and moment when the visit takes place, are unique. We've boiled down the design to a robust broth, and we have stripped away unnecessary noise. The result is a book that allows us to grasp the uniqueness of every studio visit.
Inspired by how museums and galleries create their framework for presenting art, we have taken their white walls into the book. We believe that art needs an undisturbed space to flourish, so we've created Brask Studio Visits to be that undisturbing place. Here, the reader can meet and reflect upon the art without our interference.
We have designed Brask Studio Visits VI to have 36 different front pages, one for each of the book's artists. This is a way to further celebrate every artist as an individual and to create a level playing field for the artists across fame, hype, experience, etc. Here all are first and foremost artists. As a result, we have 36 different editions of Brask Studio Visits VI, each printed in 28 copies (adds up to 1.000 copies). We believe this adds value to the buyer, who can treasure each copy they have as one of very few.
We've worked with Marcus Gärde from Stockholm to create and implement a custom- designed font in Brask Studio Visits VI. The font - UG6 Grotesk - is a modern Sans Serif Grotesk font created in one weight only for optimal reading pleasure while still having a distinct, intellectual and humanistic personality.
A consequence of our design approach to strip away the irrelevant and create a space where art can flourish.
