With 160 pages of impact from cover to cover, including thought provoking interviews, innovative solutions and awe-inspiring images, the 5 Media magazine is one to keep coming back to – and a powerful leg in the foundation's strategy to empower sustainable change through stroytelling. This year's issue feautured the awe-inspiring ethologist and activist Dr. Jane Goodall. Speaking to 5, the UN Messenger of Peace and founder of the Jane Goodall Institute talked about harnessing our innate ability to connect – with nature and each other – to conserve a world urgently calling on us to be better custodians.
With all this amazing content at hand, our main focus when creating the magazine's design concept and layout was to do proper justice to the inspiring articles and stories. By creating interesting layouts that played with the use of type and images, we were able to create a unique and dynamic look and feel for each story. This emphasised the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into to researching, writing and creating each article. Apart from this, the magazine's layout was also able unfold some of the exisiting stories on the website – giving them a more immersive canvas better suited to long reads.
