Danish Film Festival Celebrating Diversity

THE CLIENT
Mix Copenhagen is one of Denmark’s oldest film festivals and has been celebrating diversity for the last 30 years. Mix is a LGBT festival that is run by volunteers and their goal is to show movies that bends gender, crosses sexual boundaries, effects the gender debate and reflects a diverse world.

THE ASSIGNMENT
Mix Copenhagen wanted new visual direction for their 30th anniversary poster. The brief was quite clear. Make it sophisticated. Do not portray people or skin. Use the existing logo and font. Create a poster to use in foyers of cinemas and in the context of clubs and cafés, create a poster people want to own.

THE SOLUTION
We created a poster founded on the concept of diversity, this is portrayed in the morph between letters and the use of holographic foil. To honor the history we got inspired by pre film, flip book animation. The darkness required to project film led us to use a black background. MIX Copenhagen got a poster that got more praised an sought after than ever before.

Note that the holographic effect works best in the light of lightbulbs and just seems to be silver when experienced in full daylight.
