Beskrivelse
For Christoffer Schuricht’s cult horror film The Curse of the Velvet Vampire, we created a flexible poster series that captures the gritty, seductive atmosphere of the genre while staying true to the film’s lo-fi production style. Drawing from the film’s eerie aesthetic, we used stills from key scenes to create a bold, ever-adaptable visual identity.
The posters are built around a modular design system with consistent typography, allowing for seamless customization. By maintaining a unified type treatment across all executions, it becomes easy to switch the film stills in the background—offering a versatile format for different occasions, screenings, or venues without losing visual coherence.
Set in a cult video store, The Curse of the Velvet Vampire tells the story of two Chinese horror enthusiasts whose lives begin to merge with the terrifying film they’re watching. As reality unravels, fear and death close in.
The type is deliberately raw and cinematic, evoking the B-movie feel of classic horror posters while amplifying the surreal and sinister mood of The Curse of the Velvet Vampire. The selected film stills focus on moments of tension and mystery, drawing viewers into the film’s hypnotic world of metal bands, vampire girls, and blurred realities.
Our visual identity mirrors this descent into chaos and fantasy, blurring the lines between film and real life. The result is a design that resonates with horror aficionados, celebrating the rich, surreal tradition of the genre while providing an adaptable format for continuous use.
