Henning Larsen is a prominent Danish architecture firm founded by the eponymous architect in 1959. From its origins in Copenhagen, Henning Larsen creates environments, buildings and spaces guided by a philosophy that, at its core, strives for new knowledge and a determined commitment to context, culture, and people. With their physical practice lauded the world over, the time had come for their digital presence to match in scope and commitment.
The website’s look and feel are drawn from the concept of ‘the first line’, a direct reference to the existing logo and how architects and Henning Larsen work. The first line on a blank piece of paper represents the opportunity to explore limitless possibilities, and it is also the moment when an idea takes its first tentative form in its creative journey. This motif is explored and found throughout a user’s journey, from the visible graphic elements, typographic details, hovers, animations, and image arrangements to how content is structured and curated. The home page and project pages, in particular, detail not just the final outcomes but sketches, prototypes, research and technical developments undertaken as part of the creative process – a lively playground all stemming from that first stroke of a pen on paper.
