The Christiansborg Palace custom typeface was designed to embody the duality of the palace’s identity: rooted in history yet speaking to the present. Inspired by the Neoclassical interiors of the palace and the legacy of King Christian V’s crown from 1671, the typeface blends classical elements with a modern sensibility, creating a distinctive and elegant visual language.

At its core, the typeface is a classic serif, with a contemporary edge that balances ornamentation with clean lines. The design captures the fluidity and grandeur of the palace’s interiors, distilling the rich ornamentation into subtle, refined details. For example, the letterforms feature gentle curves, such as those found in the “a”, “f”, and “&” which mimic the curling tendrils and organic shapes of the palace’s Neoclassical decor. These stylistic echoes are subtle but ever-present, allowing the type to feel timeless without overwhelming the design.
