Jyske Bank’s custom typeface is both responsible and grounded. It draws inspiration from wayfinding, both global and local: the monumental Roman capitals that symbolize perspective, and the Danish signage tradition that has guided Danes for centuries.

The solid, geometric proportions, inspired by Roman capitals, create a sense of weight and credibility. At the same time, a distinctly Danish informality, visible in details like ‘g’ and ‘Å’, adds warmth and presence. The slightly concave stems, rooted in stone-carving craft, give the letterforms graphic tension and bring life and texture to longer text passages.

The family consists of eight weights, including italics. The numerals have fixed width across all weights, ensuring they always align vertically with precision. The broad range of weights delivers maximum impact in headlines and optimal readability in body text. Jyske Bank can claim ownership of even simple words like “Bolig” through the dark, display-oriented weights, while maintaining a comfortable reading experience in longer text with the lighter, text-oriented weights.

The typeface embodies the bank’s positioning: competent yet informal, grounded yet forward-looking. It reflects both scale and closeness, a typographic voice that meets customers at eye level while maintaining a firm grasp on the wider perspective. Distinctive and grounded, all at once.
