Læsk
Beskrivelse
Danish kombucha brewery, Læsk, wants to change the soft drinks industry for good. So, when they were invited to the IKEA startup program, IKEA Bootcamp, in late 2018, they took on the challenge of creating something that is affordable, accessible and appetising.
Together, Læsk and IKEA set out to test the opportunities in enabling people to micro-brew their own kombucha at home. Combining expertise in fermentation and DIY experiences, they co-created a complete kombucha brewing kit solution including tea, jar and kombucha. This would make it easier for everybody to join Læsk’s soft-drinks revolution from home.
To make the kit easy to understand and use, the Danish design agency was asked to bring the new Læsk x IKEA idea to life. The usual touch of Læsk’s tongue-in-cheekiness was preserved and the light-hearted illustrations and playful colours add to the experience, helping one navigate through the brewing process. First, you brew tea, mix in some sugar and then add a can of pre-made kombucha. Then it’s alive and ready. A simple journey that was the inspiration for the design experience too. Easy as “one, two, three”.
For the uninitiated, kombucha is a fermented tea drink created by adding cultures to sweetened tea, many believe that consuming the beverage has positive health benefits, for others, it’s a low-alcohol alternative, with most varieties having less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.
